With the sun beaming down over Lisbon’s 25th April Bridge, the Weir Archer Academy were once again in Half-Marathon action just seven days after competing in an excruciatingly tough 13.1 miles at the Adidas Silverstone Half.
As five of our athletes including many of the clubs sprinters embarked on this relatively flat course, things were looking extremely positive for the club’s captain JohnBoy Smith.
Recording his first ever sub-50 Half-Marathon personal best at Silverstone the week before, this time the Brit went one better by finishing 5th with a time of 00:44:35.
And the PBs didn’t stop there.
Battling illness and antibiotics at a wet and dull looking Silverstone race track the previous Sunday, Stuart Bloor also raced particularly well to record a new best of 00:53:35.
Shortly after crashing at the start line, the in-form Jabari Knight experienced a set-back with a flat tyre that at one point put his chances of finishing the race in jeopardy.
However, displaying true grift and determination Knight managed to finish the race alongside his teammates Moatez Jomni and Justin Levene who also raced particularly well on this hot afternoon.
The team will now turn their focus to their warm weather training camp in the South of Portugal where their preparations for the upcoming track season continue.
